We are Yassine and Lisa.
He is from Morocco, she is from the Netherlands, and we met in València. We are partners in life and behind the decks, and Derali is the thing we built together.
We play, and we put the night on. Both. It sounds like a small distinction and it is the whole thing — it means the music and the room are one decision instead of two, made by the same two people.
Intimacy and high energy, at the same time.
That was the thing missing in the city. Plenty of rooms had one or the other — somewhere small and warm where nothing happens, or somewhere loud where nobody looks at anybody. We wanted the two at once.
The test is simple and we still use it: at the end of the night, did people feel like they attended something, or like they were part of it. Only the second one counts.
How it grew

Coffee Parties
Daytime. Coffee. Afro-melodic house at a volume you could still talk over, in a white room in València. It filled from the first one, and it kept filling. Everything Derali does now is a version of that room.

Sunsets
Up to the roof at Veles e Vents, with the port underneath and the last hour of light behind the booth. The same idea outdoors, and the first time we saw people arrive early for the light rather than late for the music.

Club nights
Palau Alameda, in the city, after dark. Blinders, smoke, a grand piano on the stage some nights. Bigger rooms, and the same job: make it feel like something rather than look like something.
Coffee Parties still happen. They are where this started and they are the reason the rest of it works.
